Week 2 Ephesians 1:15-22 God’s power in us – following sermon on January 17 (Hilda Isaacson)
Please note that there are Churches Together Home Groups for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity (Jan 18-25), so some groups may not be meeting that week. This material is intended for the week beginning January 25.
1)      This passage is Paul’s prayer for the church he is writing to. It contains both thanksgiving and prayer. Why are both of these important?
2)      What does Paul give thanks for in the life of this church? How are these two things connected? How do they reinforce one another?
3)      What does Paul ask for them? How should we be helping one another to grow in our knowledge of God and of the hope to which he has called us?
4)      Make a list of all the things said about this hope to which we are called. And then read them out loud! How does that make you feel?
5)      Share your understanding of each of the wonderful things being said. Share how they bring you encouragement.
6)      What is the power at work in the church according to verses 19 and 20?
7)      Finally, are all these things for us as individuals or for us as a church? How important is the church in this passage?
8)      You may want to end this session with a time of praise and prayer for one another, and for the church.
