Week 5 Eph 3:1-12 The mystery of the gospel – following sermon on Feb 14 (eve) (David Jeans)
This week is half term week, and some groups might not wish to meet – in which case you could look at this section either last week or next week!
1)      Paul describes himself here as a ’prisoner on behalf of you Gentiles’; to see the truth of this look at Acts 21:27-28; Acts 22:21-22. It would be easy for us to look down on these Jews. But are there sorts of people we would not want to see as part of the people of God?
2)      The word ‘mystery’ in this passage means ‘something which had been secret, but now has been made clear’ – obviously by God. What is this mystery? What is plan A or plan B for God?
3)      What motivates Paul’s preaching of the gospel in this passage?
4)      What is said here about the place of the church in this passage? What should our church be demonstrating to fulfil this?
